Interview with Author Angela Corbett

Deirdra:  Can you tell us a little about your book, Eternal Starling?
Angela: For 250 years, Evie Starling’s soul has been followed through time by Alex Night and Emil Stone. Both men claim to love her, but one might want to take her soul. The Emblem of Eternity trilogy is definitely about true love and soul mates, but even more than that, it’s really a story about Evie. Evie has a lot to think about in the next two books, and the things she learns about herself will just make her decisions more difficult.

Deirdra: What books have most influenced your life?
Angela: When I was young, I read a children's version of The Hobbit. It made a huge impact on me. I loved living in the world Tolkien created, and it made me realize I wanted to be an author so I could create worlds of my own.

Deirdra: Do you need absolute quiet to write? Do you listen to music when you are writing?
Angela: I use music a lot for inspiration, but I need silence to write. I write a lot at night too because there are less people on Twitter and Facebook to distract me. :)

Deirdra:  How many beta readers review your manuscript before you send it to your editor?
Angela: It depends on the book and who I think my target audience will be. For Eternal Starling, I had over 15 beta readers. However, I have another project that only had 4 betas. I chose specific beta readers for each book.

Deirdra:  What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
Angela: Balancing the business side of writing with writing! It's hard to find time for it all.

Deirdra:  What is the best thing about being an author?
Angela: The fans! Getting emails from people who like my work means so much to me! I really appreciate all the people who take the time to contact me.

Deirdra:  What is the best complement you could receive from a reader?
Angela: I love when people tell me they read my book more than once! I also recently got an email from a mom thanking me for writing Eternal Starling because it made her daughter love reading again. Nothing could make me happier!
